The wedding is less than 5 months away. So much planning is still yet to be done. We still have to mail out the Save the Date cards as well as figure out if we are going to have a string quartet. We are planning on making a hair appointment for Monday for me so that we can decide how I want to do my hair, and I have yet to find a dress. Fortunately, even with all that weighing on our minds, I received the awesome news today that I passed my Praxis II graduation exams and as long as I do not fail student teaching I will graduate in the Spring! :)
Getting addresses is a lot more draining than I ever expected it to be. Every time I think we are done we think of more people to add to the list. We are so excited though to share this day with family and friends.
We also have had our first two premarital counseling sessions since I have been up here on break and we have a whole lot of questions that were given to us that we are supposed to discuss. Our pastor, Dave, has also recommended that we read several different books in preparation for marriage. We are so excited to be planning our wedding and seeing how God is working thing out in accordance with HIS will. Who else but God would be able to take my failing score of a 147 the first time I took my praxis exam for Severe Disabilities to it being a perfect 200 the second time? Our God is in control and we are excited to see how He is going to use us to further His kingdom through our marriage.
If you would, pray for us as we embark on this journey, that we would always allow God to lead us and not turn to our own selfish desires. We desire to please God in everything that we do. Thanks for loving us and praying for us!

Thanksgiving & More Wedding Plans
Mark and I are about to have our first family holiday together. No, we aren't married yet, but I don't think I have ever been with a significant other over a holiday before. Ever. I am excited and nervous. Excited that I am gaining the family that I used to have when I was little, when my family actually got along, and we got together for Thanksgiving at my Nanny and Papa's. Now, though, I am a part of a family that I have chosen to be a part of. A family that has accepted me and loved on me and treats me as their own. Within a few months of dating Mark and I's picture was on the refrigerator.
His mom is helping so much with the wedding. She's a wedding planner and has excellent taste in lots of things. She is so organized and has helped keep the stress to a minimum. It has been so much fun. Her, my future sister-in-law, and I went dress shopping a few weeks ago for my dress. It was so much fun! I love my mom dearly, but our relationship has been strained at best for a really long time. His mom is so giving and patient and helpful! She is going to make a great mother-in-law! She even hemmed pants that were too long for me! :) I'm excited to be her daughter-in=law.
We have decided not to have our reception at a reception hall with dancing. It was just becoming to much of an expense just to be able to dance. We think we have decided that we want to honeymoon in Monument Valley out in Utah in a little cabin. I'm pretty excited about that. We both also have chosen our wedding parties:
Best Man:
Mat Whitaker, Brother of the groom
Groom's men:
Tim Hawkins, Friend of the groom
J.T. Silvers, Friend of the groom
Adam Hopper, Friend of the groom
Maid of Honor:
Emily Long, Friend of the Bride
Bride's Maids:
Christine Grant, Sister of the bride
Brandi Bizzell, Friend of the bride
Fran Sullivan, Friend of the bride
Ring Bearers:
Jay Grant and Caleb Hawkins
Flower Girls:
Dani Grant and Gracie Hawkins
I think I've also decided on Bride's maids dresses as well. We shall see. Other than that we are just looking at how to decorate the church. Have I mentioned Mark's mom is amazing in all of this?! She knows just what to do and how to do it! It's so great!

The Election
So, I had the thought today, that after Obama was elected, that I will be getting married under a Democratic president. What exactly does the mean? I'm not sure. Does that mean financially we could face even harder times? I don't know. Are we forever doomed to live under a man who is not for Christianity and may persecute it? I'm not sure about that either, but one thing I am sure of is that my God is God. He is sovereign in every situation. No matter what America does, He still reigns. Israel went against God numerous times and yet He still delivered them. They begged for a king until God gave them one and He still delivered them. No matter the outcome or what this nation "chooses" God is still sovereign and nothing takes Him by surprise. His plan is flawless and perfect. He is God over all and I will not fear. No matter what my God is still God and a presidential election will not affect that.
In other news, we are possibly going to look at reception halls this Friday when I'm up in KY for a visit. Mark's mom is doing our flowers and made an amazing bouquet already. It's dark pink. :) I'm really excited that she is so helpful. She doesn't try to control everything, but instead makes suggestions and let's us decide. I'm so excited to be marrying the man that God laid out for me before the foundations of the world! I cannot wait to be Wenday Nichole Whitaker! :) We may also look at how we want to do our invitations this weekend. I'm not sure.
I went a couple weeks ago with Mrs. Robin, and two of my friends Krista and Kristina to try on wedding dresses. I kinda felt like a Barbie. It was an interesting experience in which I learned new vocabulary :) Our colors for the wedding are going to be black and white with dark pink being the color of our flowers. Mark is going to wear a black tux with white vest, shirt, and bowtie, while his groomsmen will wear black tuxes with white shirts and black vests and bowties. My bridesmaids are going to be in mostly black dresses with white accents. We have yet to pick those out yet.
We are getting married at Eastwood Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY. The sanctuary is beautiful. Mark is wanting a string quartet to play and no tracks for the music :) He's a music major graduate from Campbellsville and working on his Masters of Divinity in Worship at Southern Seminary.
I think that's all for now. Will try to keep y'all updated as much as possible :)

Wedding
So, we are attempting to plan things for the wedding. The tentative date is May 16th, 2009, but we have to wait for me to take some graduation exams and see how well I do on them to finalize our decision.
So, the proposal story:
For Fall break Mark and I, along with another couple Stitch(Eric) and Kristina, had planned a camping trip to Cumberland Gap. We were excited about it because Mark, Stitch, and I had all gone back in April, which is when and where Mark and I started dating. So, we were going on Thursday. The Wednesday before Stitch and I had made plans to go to Wal*Mart and get the food that we needed for the trip and to make the hobos that we'd be eating and to get all of the food together. Well, unbeknown st to me, Mark had called Stitch at about 2pm that afternoon and told him to make sure that I stayed busy and did not call him after church that night because he was leaving after church to drive down to Johnson City. So, Stitch is just playing the part, we take our time shopping in Wal*Mart, go by and pick up a cast iron skillet from our friend Kevin's house and we get back to the BCM where I live and started working on cutting up the potatoes and such for the hobos. We also picked up Kristina in the process.
So, we are cutting up the food and Stitch goes outside to load firewood into his Explorer that we planned to take on the trip. So, while he's out there Mark gets there and parks away from the building. Apparently, they had also been texting the entire evening as well. So, I came out one and Stitch was missing, but I just thought he was getting more firewood, so I went back in. Come back out and he needs my flash light so I go get it and come back. Well, finally we get done getting everything and I cut out all the lights in the building and head up to my room. I'm not there 5 minutes when I get a text from Mark saying that he wants to see me. So, I sit up and look online and he's not there (we talk on webcam) so I texted him back and told him I couldn't talk to him if he wasn't online, to which he responded that maybe I should try my window. With that text he started singing to me "Wonderful Tonight" which is the first song he ever played and sang to me. So, I'm freaking out and so happy to see him, and I run out to the front of the building to meet him, and when he gets around the building to where I was he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. :) It was amazing. Then we spend most of the night walking around talking and then at Waffle House where he was telling me all the things that had happened the past few weeks that he wasn't able to tell me about :)
So, I'm extremely happy and looking forward to planning our wedding. :)
